Brief history of the hospital: The hospital was established and registered in Anambra state ministry of health in 2004. It was registered as a clinic with 3 observational beds in a rented flat in Udoka Housing estate, Awka. it had no other clinical department because of lack of space. By 2006, it moved to its permanent site and the registration changed to Crest Specialist Hospital with a total of 21 beds for patient’s management. It expanded to include other units/department such as more consulting rooms/office spaces for doctors (4), administrative-, registry-, accounts-, pharmacy-, laboratory- departments, radiology unit and cardiology unit with basic equipments like ECG machine, Echocardiography machine and Exercise-stress test equipment. The hospital is fully operational and its services including ambulance services are well patronized till date. In 2009, it was incorporated as a company and registered with CAC as ‘Crest Specialist Hospital LTD’ with the corporate address as its head office. It operated as a limited liability company with family members as board of directors. The operation ran smoothly until the year 2018, when the directors decided to unwind and delimit and the hospital was again registered with CAC as ‘Crest Hospital Awka’. Apart from change in registered name, the address still remained same. The process of unwinding and liquidation was completed in 2024 and the hospital is now registered as clinical business enterprise. In terms of personnel, the hospital has a specialist and consultant physician and cardiologist, visiting subspecialty specialists and consultants, 2 medical officers, nurses and various other workers. It runs a 24-hour services and has facilities for reception of emergency consultation and services. It has adequate security outfit with round the clock light and water availability.
